Why Use Bamboo?
As it stands the construction industry is responsible for 40% of global CO2 emissions which is a staggering amount. We as individuals need to take responsibility for how we are going to make the small steps needed to reduce our carbon footprint. Traditional methods of construction include the use of materials such as concrete, steel and timber, all of which are draining our planet’s natural resources.
However, we do have incredible materials at our disposal which will help towards reducing our negative impact on our planet and one of them is Bamboo.
Bamboo is a perennial grass and is the fastest growing plant on Earth. A bamboo ‘culm’ is ready to harvest for construction purposes within just 4 years compared to a minimum of 20 years for other hardwood timber species, making it the perfect material to tackle the terrible levels of deforestation happening across the globe.
